how the BMW Car Club of BC may collect, use, and safeguard the
personal information you may provide while visiting our web site.
Information Collection
If you browse BMW CCBC's web site, you do so relatively anonymously.
We don't collect personal information including your e-mail address.
We do log your IP address (the Internet address of your computer)
to give us an idea of which parts of our web site you visit and
how long you spend there. But we do not link your IP address
to anything personally identifiable. The only other information
automatically provided to us is the type of computer and operating
system you are using. Your browser supplies us with this information.
Unlike many commercial web sites, the BMW CCBC web site does
not make extensive use of a standard technology called a "cookie"
to collect information about how you use the site. We do use
"cookies" in a limited way in tow areas to identify
your log in, this happens in our electronic forum to track what
messages are new since your last visit, and when you use the
Karelo reservation system to identify you as a previous user,
but that's basically it. No information linking is done to track
you via the cookie.
Information Use
If you provide us with your name e-mail or postal address by
filling out a form on our web site, or have done so in the past,
we understand that to mean you have granted us the right to contact
you for the purposes you submitted your information for. You
have the right to opt-out of any mailing lists or information
requests you may have initiated..
When you supply BMW CCBC with your personal information, we may
use it to register your membership. We may use information that
you have given us to learn more about our members so that we
can develop better activities and services. We may also use the
information to inform you about new events, activities, services
and offers that may be of interest to you. These offers may be
based on information you provided in your initial transaction
with us or in surveys.
Declining E-mail Offers
BMW CCBC provides members with the option to decline to receive
e-mail offers. Although most members tell us they appreciate
receiving notices regarding our club, we recognize the importance
of providing you with choices. At any time, you may request to
discontinue receiving these offers from us by simply replying
to the e-mail and informing us of your preferences.
Information Privacy.
It is the policy of the BMW Car Club of BC not to rent, sell
or otherwise distribute the information it gathers about members
and visitors to our site, as set out in our membership information
privacy policy.
Children
While we have no control that BMW CCBC's website and marketing
materials are often viewed by children, we do not solicit data
from them. BMW CCBC encourages parents and guardians to spend
time online with their children and to participate in the interactive
activities offered on the sites their children visit. No information
should be submitted to, or posted at, BMW CCBC's web site by
visitors under 18 years of age without the consent of their parent
or guardian. We will not be held responsible if your child keeps
asking for a BMW.
BMW CCBC's privacy policy is subject to change at any time
and without notice, as may be required by law.
