On July13th, the BMWCCBC held our 3rd annual “Show-Off” event. Once more we were ably hosted by Auto West Classic Garage division of the Auto West BMW dealership near Cambie Road and Shell Road in Sunny Richmond.
And it was sunny, and it was warm – quite warm, in fact, but nobody seemed to mind.
We had cars, we had people. We had coffee, we had Timbits, we also had cooled water. We had conversation, we had voting, we had prizes, and we had trophies!
It was a good show. We had more BMW’s than the lot had room for, but lots of street parking for non-registered fans and the curious.
Pre-registered Entrants and current BMW Club members were eligible to vote for and choose their favourite BMW in each of 2 Categories: “Classic” and “Current”. Only registered Entrants were eligible to be awarded a prize or to win a trophy. The prizes and the beautiful trophies were again generously sponsored by Auto West Classic Garage.
Early birds started to arrive just after 9:00 to get the best spots on the lot. All Entrants were required to be in place by the official start at 10:00.
There was an amazing variety of cars entered, mostly pristine, but also some “in character”. Some incredibly restored, and some painstakingly preserved classics, but also many immaculately cared for more current models.
Auto West Classic Garage had a few of their notable rarities on display, including a 2002 TURBO, a Z1 roadster, an M1, and some rare classic sedans.
At about 12:30, the prizewinners were announced with appropriate appreciation and recognition, and the spoils were awarded.
The wide variety of BMW models that are entered, both Classic and Current, is always an eye-opener. And we look forward to see what gems may come out of hiding next year…!
